Event Co-Chairs

Meg & Jeff Arnold

In 1998, Jeff Arnold started the Internet healthcare company, WebMD, rapidly growing the business to the market leadership position in less than 18 months. Since then, Jeff has been a serial entrepreneur: selling his company, HowStuffWorks, to Discovery in 2007;  redefining the five-star rating system for luxury travel with Forbes Travel Guide; and starting his latest company, Sharecare, with Dr. Mehmet Oz, which helps millions of people every day better manage their health to be their best self.

Jeff along with his wife, Meg, started in technology and healthcare long before they started WebMD. Just before graduating from the University of Georgia – where he and Meg were college sweethearts – Jeff was offered a timely opportunity in pharmaceutical sales. Meg went on to get her nursing degree at Emory and become a pediatric oncology nurse with Egleston. As the two pursued their careers, they recognized there was a need for a better solution to help doctors monitor their patients who were experiencing cardiovascular issues remotely. So, the couple took out a business loan for $25,000 from Meg’s father and founded Quality Diagnostic Services (QDS), a heart monitoring service in 1994.  Jeff and Meg started the business out of their apartment, taking phone calls from patients and interpreting facsimiles of electro-cardiograms 24 hours a day, seven days a week. After four years, they sold QDS for $25 million in which they rolled into their next big idea, giving “health a home-page” better known as WebMD.

For nearly 20 years, the Arnolds have made their mark on healthcare, media and technology while putting family and philanthropy first.  Whether it’s the examples they set for the Sharecare employees around the world or their four children, the couple’s life’s work is to make total health and wellness an accessible reality for everyone.
