The winner of the Fisker Karma two-year lease was drawn Monday, April 22, 2013 at the exclusive Fisker Reveal party at the Loews Hotel Atlanta.
Funds raised from the raffle will directly benefit the Captain Planet Foundation’s Small Grants Program, which provides critical ‘gap funding’ to formal and non-formal educators who seek to implement high-quality, solution-based programs that empower youth to become environmental stewards and global environmental change-makers.
EDKF is a highly-motivational action packed and FUN Eco-Event where children and youth learn how to become great stewards of the planet we all call home. Through engaging hands-on activities and live performances, kids are given the power to lead the way in preserving and protecting our natural resources and biological diversity. Held on the grounds of the Chattahoochee Nature Center, this exciting, family experience is brought to the community by the Macy’s Foundation as presenting sponsor with the City of Roswell, and the Atlanta Journal Constitution also sponsoring.
Saturday, March 16 Captain Planet participated in the 131stAtlanta St. Patrick’s Parade. The annual family-friendly parade, aimed at celebrating the city’s Irish culture and history ran along Peachtree Street, from the intersection of Ralph McGill Boulevard and Peachtree Street, to Marietta Street in Five Points.
February 14th Valentine's Day, Captain Planet Foundation and Chair Person Laura Turner Seydel joined a worldwide movement to end violence against women and girls. Atlanta's men, women, and children danced in a flash mob demonstration downtown in Woodruff Park choreographed by Debbie Allen for One Billion Rising.
Captain Planet and the Planeteers made a big showing at DragonCon this year! Check them out as they walk down Peachtree in the parade. They even got a shot with Kwame himself, LeVar Burton!Fans of the show were able to shake hands with their favorite characters and we are pretty certain there are now some new Planeteers as well. Looking forward to 2011!
CPF was invited to Ford Elementary's Evening in the Garden" for our role in their garden program. The night began with a community garden dedication, for which we provided a grant, and then concluded with an original musical. We were even written into the script! CPF is very thankful for our ongoing partnership with F...ord and all they have done to promote and foster environmental education. Go planet!
This year marked the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, so Dave FM decided – what better reason to create a new Atlanta musical event? That thought introduced the first Dave FM Earth Day Birthday, presented by Ted’s Montana Grill. Headlining the concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater was Ben Harper and Relentless Seven along with Guster. Alberta Cross also be performed during the night. Other local nonprofits were also featured to help guests learn more about going green.

The 8th Annual Earth Day Kids Fest (EDKF) was education and fun rolled into one! Located on the grounds of the picturesque Chattahoochee Nature Center, this was a unique and exciting hands-on environmental education event where we encourage youngsters to take the first steps in becoming environmental stewards. Through engaging activities and performances, kids were energized with empowering information, allowing them to lead the way in preserving and protecting our biological diversity and natural resources.

The Earth Hour Atlanta Committee and Atlantic Station featured a Family Fun Fest in celebration of World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) annual Earth Hour with games and entertainment with an environmental and sustainable focus. Entertainment (noon – 3 pm) featured the Seed & Feed Marching Abominable, Dem Shelton Boyz, New Knerds, with appearances by Captain Planet, Petunia Garner and Eco Squirrel. Activities for children included arts and crafts, kids' parade, environmentally conscious vendors, performances of the Earth Hour Rap, and children's poster contest winner announcements.

In celebration of Atlanta's diverse mix of certified green building projects, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) presents ATLANTA: Beyond Bricks & ...Sticks, an exhibition that will travel to some of the city's high-profile venues during 2010. Spotlighting many of the metro area's outstanding design examples, this exhibition tells the stories of the people who live, work, learn and play in the city's sustainable structures.
This concert celebrated the opening of a school garden CPF funded and the awarding of Ovie Mughelli as an environmental steward.
Students (fourth and fifth grade) assisted an Eco Construction expert in building a two Captain Planet Gardens on the campus of Harbordale Elementary School in Ft. Lauderdale. This replaces on...es that were destroyed by reconstruction of the school, now a green school. Students also reported on the construction through the in-school media. All students then participated in a celebration kickoff Earthman concert event.
Captain Planet made his annual visit to the DC Auto Show to shake a few hands with past, present and future Planeteers! This 68th edition of The Washington Auto Show offers a showcase of more than 700 vehicles from over 42 domestic and import manufacturers and a special 65,000-square foot exhibit, “The Advanced Technology SuperHighway” of the latest technologies in safety and sustainability.
