Supporting our work for Earth Day and beyond!

Our mission to work collaboratively to engage and empower young people to be problem-solvers for the planet extends beyond Earth Day. Here are the top 5 five ways that we are committed to #RealPlaneteer campaign and why we need your support.

ecoSolutions & ecoTech Grants

Both of these grants have the goal of actively fulfilling our mission to build the next generation of environmental stewards and change-agents, by providing funds to support youth-driven, solution-oriented projects with real environmental outcomes, sometimes with the use of technology.

Project Learning Garden

We currently have over 510 gardens across the US with 31 in the UK. Project Learning Garden impacts around 385,000 schoolchildren annually by bringing two things to their instructional day on a regular basis:  meaningful and relevant hands-on environmental learning and nutrition education. CPF encourages educators to use gardens as an extension of the traditional classroom. With the recent school closures, we are shifting our focus to address food scarcity and fresh fruit and vegetable access by turning our school gardens into community food hubs for families in need.

ChangeMakers

Young people around the world are organizing themselves to demand and take action on climate change, ocean health, social and environmental justice, human rights, and the other issues that the Planeteers addressed close to thirty years ago. Recognizing that supporting these efforts squarely aligned with the original mandate of the organization, Captain Planet Foundation began developing a new program called ChangeMakers to provide direct access to tools, opportunities, and support for young people to use their voices and direct actions to protect and conserve the planet and all its species.

Project Hero

These free, online problem-based learning quests engage and educate young people about current species endangered or threatened in their own communities. We will continue to support young people’s hands-on projects to create meaningful impacts in their own communities.

ecoSTEM Resource Kits

Through our small grants program we have provided support for over 2,500 projects around the world. We determined based on the feedback that most of the projects were geared toward environmental stewardship so we created custom, curated resource kits for teachers. Our support continues by providing these kits to teachers and learning how to improve and develop best practices for each of the kits.
