Session: GREAT Projects: A Scaffolded Approach to Phenomenon-, Problem- and Project-Based Learning
Explore the GREAT Project Pathways, a suite of tools that students can use to build their own adventures and direct schoolyard projects that solve authentic environmental problems. Investigate ways to incorporate Project-Based Learning with citizen science, engineering challenges, case studies, problem-solving, and sense making. Discover research-informed teaching practices that attract more diverse students to STEM through opportunities to make a difference in the real world. Bring a reusable water bottle and dress comfortably for some walking in beautiful Gateway Arch Park and conducting of field studies (weather permitting). A picnic lunch will be provided, courtesy of the presenters, along with workshop supplies, “Natural Inquirer” research journal for students, lesson frameworks, and access to online resources.
