Pamela Atkins is the principal in the law firm of Atkins & Associates in Atlanta, Georgia.

Pamela was raised in the Northeastern United States and attended the Loomis Chaffee School in Connecticut. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emory University and earned the distinction of Beta Gamma Sigma from the Emory Business School and served as the Panhellenic Representative for her sorority Alpha Delta Pi. She received her Juris Doctorate from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she was an editor on the Law Review. She is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Georgia, Maryland, and District of Columbia, The United States Supreme Court, and various other federal appellate and district courts around the country including the Eleventh, Ninth and Fourth Circuits.

A substantial part of her law practice, during the last twenty years, has been devoted to troubleshooting and overseeing legal matters for executives, entertainers and athletes, as well as, representing a broad spectrum of clients in litigation matters including insurance disputes on individual disability and group insurance policies, both ERISA and non-ERISA, as well as Social Security Disability claims and appeals. She is a frequent speaker at conferences for attorneys and organizations, and has been retained by other lawyers, private industry, and the federal government for advice on disability design and regulation. She is a Past President of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR), and served on its Board of Directors for over 15 years.

Pamela has always devoted a substantial amount of her time to charitable causes focusing on the environment, policy, children, poverty, hunger, and illnesses. In 2009, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society named her as a corporate leader in recognition for devoting her talent and financial resources to make a difference in the welfare and well-being of others. Pamela was first introduced to Captain Planet in 1990s, by Ted Turner when he brought the unique eco-warrior to Emory’s first sustainability working group. Pamela joined the Board of the Captain Planet Foundation in 2018.

Pamela’s commitment to environmental education and school gardens grew as she raised her son TJ who attended High Meadows School where environmental education was an integral part of the core curriculum from pre-school to eighth grade. TJ studies at Stanford University, working on his dual Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees in Earth Systems focusing on Conservation Biology and spent the last two summers researching in the Amazon. So you can see why Pamela champions CPF’s Project Learning Garden and early environmental education.

Pamela’s love of nature, adventure, photography, and travel propelled her on expeditions to places like Mt. Everest, Wadi Rum Desert, and the Galapagos Islands. These unique places and our everyday homes are in eminent danger from the side effects of human behavior with drastic declines in biodiversity, disappearing oceans, and extreme weather patterns. Pamela ardently supports Captain Planet’s world-wide Youth Voice programs that educate, activate and empower children across the globe to become environmental leaders in their own communities. She produced CPF’s OHBC Plastic Free Cayman Influencer Expedition in 2018. And co-founded, with Ryan Hattaway, ArtLOVESEarth to activate environmental issues through artistic collaborations and influencer expeditions.
