Schoolyard Garden Support Organizations

Captain Planet Foundation’s Project Learning Garden is a proud member of a whole network of “School  Garden Support Organization” across the United States (and around the world) that provide valuable resources and support to schools who want to maximize the value of their gardens for student learning and enrichment. Below are just some of the organizations Captain Planet Foundation works with to ensure all children have access and opportunity to outdoor learning spaces.

SGSO Network- The SGSO Network is an open peer-to-peer learning network with the goal of growing, sustaining and elevating a movement of equitable garden-based education. We provide professional & leadership development, resources, and platforms to connect for members serving at a school, district, regional, state, or national level. Join the online forum to connect with other like minded peers working with school gardens. 

Green Our Planet  Green Our Planet’s mission is to increase student academic performance in STEM subjects as well as to conserve and protect the environment through project-based STEM education, which includes nutrition, financial literacy and conservation education in PreK-12 schools.

Kids Gardening– Kids Gardening creates opportunities for kids to play, learn, and grow through gardening, engaging their natural curiosity and wonder. They support educators and families with grant funding, original educational resources, inspiration, and community to get more kids learning through the garden.

OutTeach Formally, REAL School Gardens, originating from Texas and operating regionally across the US, partners with schools on a multi-year training program to learn how to use their new teaching tool to get results.  Their educators provide deep, on-site, one-on-one training with teachers, blending learning training, STEM survival club and other professional learning opportunities for teachers.

Eco Rise Eco Rise provides school-based programs to empower youth to tackle real-world challenges in their schools and communities by teaching sustainability, design innovation, and social entrepreneurship.

Life Lab – Life Lab, based in Santa Cruz, CA, has a long legacy of providing excellent garden and farm-based lessons and resources for students, as well as professional resources and workshops for educators.

Georgia Organics – Georgia Organics, based in Atlanta and operating across Georgia, provides high-quality resources and support for school garden and farm-to school programs across Georgia
