CPF Educator Resources

Captain Planet Foundation focuses on supporting educators and increasing their capacity to involve students in investigating natural phenomena, exploring evidence, solving authentic problems, and making a difference in the real world.

CPF provides strategies, tools, resources, and models for engaged K-12 science education through the forthcoming web library.

Our approach is informed by research on how children develop and learn, as well as over twenty-five years of grant-making for youth-led projects that support environmental solutions. These grants have provided us with the invaluable opportunity to work with highly-effective educators who use the schoolyard to provide context and relevance for integrated STEM learning.

Captain Planet Foundation offers grants, lesson frameworks, a curated curriculum collection, scaffolded pathways for PBL projects in the schoolyard, and classroom kits of supplies and materials to help you spark curiosity, deepen learning, and provide opportunities for students to solve science problems outside classroom walls.

Research & Rationale

The work of Captain Planet Foundation has been shaped by seminal research about how children connect with nature and learn science; how people come to care about and prioritize the environment; and what factors affect one’s sense of hopelessness or empowerment in the face of challenges.
