Goal

Students will to learn how to use a sun dial to tell time.

Standards

  • S2E2a. Students will investigate the position of the sun in relation to a fixed object on earth at various times of the day.

Procedures

  1. Cover clocks in the classroom for the duration of the day. Take students outside at various times to guess what time it is and provide evidence (schedule or routine, position of sun in the sky, hungriness or body function).
  2. When all students have submitted guesses, provide the correct time to see which student was the closest and what evidence proved most accurate.
