Information Systems Manager

Captain Planet Foundation is a 33-year-old NGO based in Atlanta, GA with the mission to engage and empower young people to be problem solvers for the planet. The organization operates four main programs across the U.S. and globally, including: Project Learning Garden, Project Hero, Green Heart STEM Challenge for Environmental Justice, and Planeteer Alliance.

Salary: $55,000 – $65,000/ year plus full benefits package

OVERVIEW

Captain Planet Foundation is seeking an Information Systems Manager to join our team. The role focuses on designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining a variety of digital tools and systems critical to the foundation’s operations. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented and strategic thinker to contribute to the success of an organization with a strong reputation and global name recognition. The Information Systems Manager will play a key role in optimizing digital workflows and systems, driving operational and programmatic efficiency at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Leadership:
    • Recommend, maintain and implement an IT strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
    • Identify and implement innovative technologies to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • IT Infrastructure Management:
    • Design, implement, and maintain organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, software and security systems.
    • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems.
    • Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
    • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure for IT-related operations
    • Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions
  • Data Management and Security:
    • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and security of all data.
    • Oversee data management, including data collection, storage, analysis, reporting, retention, and destruction.
    • Manage the security of the network and data, including implementing disaster recovery strategies and back-up procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations, especially COPPA and other child-protection regulations.
    • Oversee the application lifecycle management plan to minimize the number of disparate systems, control costs, and improve the ease of providing analytics to the organization.
  • Project Management:
    • Design and build web-based assets and workflows to support new programmatic campaigns.
    • Design and build web-based processes within programs to facilitate a public-facing workflow that maximizes efficiencies.
    • Manage foundation’s websites including SaaS platforms.
    • Track and report on project progress, risks, and outcomes.
    • Create and maintain metrics and dashboards to demonstrate IT value and performance.
    • Collaborate with other departments to identify technology needs and implement solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience as an IT manager or similar role with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in managing IT systems.
  • Experience with IT systems, networking, and various computing platforms.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS.
  • Excellent understanding of IT operations and systems security
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Self-directed and detail oriented
