Costas Christ is the founder and former CEO of Beyond Green Travel, a global sustainability firm that was acquired by Preferred Travel Group.  NBC News said: “For the past 30 years, Costas Christ has been at the leading edge of the green travel movement, since way before it was ever called green or even a movement.” 

An award-winning National Geographic writer and former Senior Director at Conservation International, Costas was inducted as a Fellow of The Explorer’s Club in 2023, joining some of the world’s most renowned explorers and scientists, including Jacques Cousteau, Jane Goodall and Sylvia Earle. His life’s work has been featured in two award-winning films, including the 2022 feature documentary, The Last Tourist.

He is the lead author of Tourism and Biodiversity: Mapping Tourism’s Global Footprint (UNEP 2003), and co-author of Transformational Opportunities for People, Ocean, Planet (BCI 2021); Wilderness: Earth’s Last Wild Places (CI 2004), Transboundary Conservation: A New Vision for Protected Areas ( CEMEX 2005) and Echoes of Bhutan (Schaffer, 2017). Costas’ many television and radio appearances include Travel Channel, Good Morning America, BBC World, CNN International, National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Weekend and National Public Radio.
