Ipato Kenta

Planeteer Alliance Regional Coordinator, East Africa

Ipato Kenta (she/her) is a dedicated environmental champion from Narok, Kenya. She is a dedicated,d award-winning youth leader whose work focuses on environmental advocacy, community empowerment and inspiring indigenous youth to be at the forefront of creating positive impacts in the community.

She is a graduate of Kenya Utalii College, where she studied Tourism. Her journey at Planeteer Alliance began in 2020. Because of her dedication to the Environment and conservation, she was awarded an eco-warrior recognition award for exemplary leadership in advocating for Conservation in Tourism by Eco-Tourism Kenya.

She is honoured to have been featured in several articles and blogs. Other than that, she has been part of the 2024 Tide Turner Policy Champion Cohort through the Captain Planet Foundation, further strengthening her commitment to environmental policy against plastic pollution and youth advocacy. Having worked with different community programs where she has able to create an intergenerational environmental impact, growing over 5000 trees, impacting over 1000 children and youth. She has represented indigenous youth at global stages like the Africa Climate Summit, UNEA-7 and COP28. She is currently serving as the East Africa regional coordinator at Captain Planet Foundation.

Ipato founded a community based organization in 2023 called Tembea 4 Nature.It is a youth-led,youth designed organization based in Narok Kenya that empowers young  people, including indigenous Maasai youth,to become changemakers for the planet.

Outside of her professional work, Ipato loves outdoor activities like camping,hiking and travelling.She  enjoys exploring new destination and watching sunsets.
