About Ocean Heroes
Ocean Heroes Network and Bootcamp is a radical collaboration between 14 ocean conservation organizations and was conceived by Captain Planet Foundation and Lonely Whale. This program has already trained over 600 young ocean activists from 30+ countries to stand up successful campaigns that remove single-use plastics from circulation by exerting influence on policy, supply-side, and demand-side levers of change. These young people, ages 11-18 have already passed single-use policy bans in their cities, states, and countries; removed single-use plastics from distribution in their school districts, at local restaurants and coffee shops; and created virtual reality training with Disney and Marvel.
This program was nominated as a “World Changing Idea” by Fast Company in 2019 and the official social media account of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle named it one of the 10 environmental organizations they were following in 2019.
Ocean Heroes Network has recently expanded in partnership with World Sailing and the World Sailing Trust to engage their 153 member countries and the 1 million youth who are learning to sail each year; as well as the top youth sailors from around the globe to advocate for and create single-use plastic-free sailing events, clubhouses, and culture.
