EPA Awards Environmental Education Grant to Captain Planet Foundation in Atlanta, GA

Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the Captain Planet Foundation as a recipient of an Environmental Education Grant. The Atlanta-based non-profit was selected in the latest round of awards under the Environmental Education (EE) Grants Program.”

The Captain Planet Foundation was awarded was awarded $91,000 in grant monies. The Foundation’s goal is to implement the “Environmental Stewardship Grant-in-a-Box” model to promote environmental education by advancing standards-based learning in K-12 science education by promoting environmental stewardship as a prime instructional strategy. Each “Grant-in-a-Box” consists of a series of outdoor, experiential learning activities that substitute for lessons traditionally taught in the classroom, meeting the same curriculum standards. Read Full Article
