Planeteer Alliance, a Captain Planet Foundation program that aims to empower young people to be changemakers for the planet, is announcing their Bootcamp Course which allows Planeteers to earn a certification in Climate Awareness and Campaign Strategy.
The online platform for Planeteer Alliance, Planeteer HQ, allows young people to interact with one another, apply for grants, and inspire environmental campaigns. Once an individual applies and is accepted into the platform, their first task to earn status as a Planeteer is to complete Bootcamp.
Bootcamp is an educational resource that introduces individuals to the platform, provides a baseline education on the impacts of climate change, and teaches how to build an effective campaign. The course engages participants throughout with activities, campaign planning, engaging videos, and resources for data and research.
Once the course is completed, the individual will receive a Certification in Climate Awareness and Campaign Strategy. This certificate not only signifies the completion of Bootcamp and status of Planeteer, it can also be shared on LinkedIn and on resumes as a credential backed by Captain Planet Foundation.
“It’s really important for young people to receive recognition for the work they do because it allows their voice to be heard in more spaces,” shares Robin Okunowo, Program Manager at Captain Planet Foundation, “We created this course with the hopes that it would be a valuable educational tool and would reinforce the reality that these young people have valuable insights to provide within the broad conversion of climate action.”
Planeteer Alliance uses a tool called The Ladder of Engagement, to encourage engagement and growth within the platform. As Planeteers complete tasks, host events, and encourage their peers, they are rewarded with opportunities for grant funding, scholarships, references, and sponsorship to attend major global conferences.
Captain Planet Foundation continues their work to amplify the voices of young changemakers by funding their campaigns and strategies to address environmental degradation in their communities. Through resources like the Bootcamp Course, this foundation is equipping the next generation to address global issues in effective, creative, and impassioned ways.
