Garden Management

Has anyone involved in the garden ever attended a Garden Educator training? Some examples of this include but aren’t limited to the Edible Schoolyard Academy, Life Lab workshops, Shelburne Farms Educator Workshops, Local Agricultural Extension Programs, or Master Gardener Classes.(Required)
Ideas for engagement and integration include community involvement in the garden design, garden tastings or cooking events, potlucks in the garden, farmer’s markets, or any other fundraising or awareness events and communications.
An active school garden committee is crucial to the long term success of a garden-based learning program. This can be a subcommittee of the school’s existing wellness or green committee, and can support the school’s existing Wellness Plan. It is important to include teachers, administration, maintenance, parents and potentially students. A committee of 3-7 people is ideal. Activating the school garden committee will be one of the first steps of the Project Learning Garden program, so the more advanced work you can do on this, the better.
