Encourage Observation and Classification with this Lesson on Sorting

Which club could your shoe join? What about that pine cone? Students will examine the characteristics of objects found and things living around your home to determine which clubhouse they would enter: Club Living or Club Non-living. Consider replacing the cards in this activity with found items! Hula hoops or rope can make large circles to represent the clubhouses and contain each collection of objects. Send your young explorer on a hunt for members for each club and together you can determine the “House Rules” for the clubhouses.
