Tomatillo Ketchup


10-15 husked tomatillos
1-2 green bell peppers
1 onion
1-2 green chili peppers (optional)
1 clove garlic (optional)
1/2 cup vinegar
3 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey
1 teaspoon salt

Tomatillos have a spicy, tangy flavor, which can be added to a dish or served as a fresh dipping sauce.


  1. Chop the produce.
  2. Combine all ingredients into a large pot and bring to a boil. Turn down heat and simmer until vegetables are tender, 10-20 minutes.
  3. Blend ingredients in food processor, being sure to have an escape route for steam.
  4. Return mixture to pot, bring to boil, and simmer until mixture is thickened, about 20-30 minutes.
  5. Let cool and serve with chips, on hamburgers, hotdogs, or anything your heart desires.
