Plant a Tree and Make the World a Better Place

Trees provide shelter and food for animals, emit oxygen, sequester carbon dioxide that otherwise might be trapping heat in the atmosphere, provide shade, and stabilize soil with their roots. It’s hard to imagine an Earth Day project that has greater impact than tree planting. Your class can select a species and order seedlings from Georgia Forestry Commission for pennies, in the fall (Contact your state forest department if outside GA). Then check out Trees Atlanta’s tips on how to plant a tree.
