Grantee: High School for Environmental Studies / New York City
Grant Type: ecoTech
Description:
Students at the High School for Environmental Studies in NYC were awarded a $2,500 ecoTech Grant from the Captain Planet Foundation, under funding from Voya Foundation.
This grant allowed 300 students to develop and use refurbished cell phones with hand-held air quality sensors to aircast data that monitors building emissions in their community.
This student-designed project allows the community to understand which building are responsible for the most air pollutants so they can take environmental justice action, as necessary for student health.
