Captain Planet Foundation’s Planeteer Alliance is developing its second Element Summit Series this summer – the weekend of July 28-30. This year young Planeteers will turn the tide on plastic pollution and discuss themes like plastic pollution and circularity during the global, all youth-led and youth-hosted, WIND Summit Series.
Planeteer WIND Summits are taking place in-person in communities across Brazil, Cameroon, Chile, Ecuador, The Gambia, Guatemala India, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, Somalia, Thailand, Tunisia, UK, and the USA, with a global virtual option as well. They are an initiative of the Planeteer Alliance, a program of the Captain Planet Foundation that supports a global community of young people taking action to implement solutions that will create a climate positive future for all.
Planeteer Alliance is a global community of young people taking action and developing climate solutions for a climate positive future. Planeteers in the WIND community are creating change by stopping the flow of plastics before it begins, building circular economies in their communities and working on large scale pollution cleanup solutions. WIND Summit hosts will engage with local leaders in science, advocacy, economy and political industries to present on topics that will empower participants with the skills they need to go on to lobby their governments, engage corporations, compile research and more. Following the Summit, participants will go on to build community by leading their own climate solution or contributing their skill set to an existing climate solutions team.
Planeteer Summit hosts are supported by Team Planet through small grants, logistics and operations support. Each host team brings a wealth of knowledge, event and campaign experience and their own community to the table to empower and grow the Planeteer Alliance community. Each year, Planeteer Alliance focuses its efforts on one Element Summit Series. 2022 was the year of WATER and the Blue Climate Action Summit Series took place in 9 locations around the world. 2024 will bring the FIRE community together to dive deep into solutions related to renewable energies and curbing our use of fossil fuels.
