Garden Hills Elementary School

Garden Hills Elementary School’s nestled raised bed garden was cleared and filled with tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, sweet potatoes, okra, and sorrel. What a beautiful place to grow! Can you imagine how colorful this space will be in just a few weeks? When students and teachers return to campus, their garden will be bustling and bursting with a variety of fruit. Each bed will offer a unique collection of opportunities for hands-on learning and application. Until then, food harvested from Garden Hills will be donated through Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Benteen ES_PGG Summer 2020-1

Benteen Elementary School

Check out Benteen’s courtyard garden! Thanks to a generous soil donation from Kellogg Garden Products, we were able to top off these lovely beds and fill them with tomatoes, squash, herbs, and more! These beds will be overflowing with nutrition and color as the season progresses. Food from Benteen will be distributed to the community and young people in the area through programming offered by Everybody Eats.

Springdale Park ES_PGG Summer 2020-1

Springdale Park Elementary School

Springdale Park’s rooftop garden has been working hard as a pollinator’s paradise all season long! Look at the number of native beauties in this single patch of earth. Do you recognize any of these blooms? We’re so grateful for their willingness to share some space with crops that will feed pollinators and humans alike this Summer. Soon this patch will be full of colorful fruits growing alongside the colorful blooms! Food harvested from Springdale Park will be distributed to the community through Atlanta Community Food Bank.

We’re sending a big THANK YOU to all of our participating APS schools!
These schools have volunteered their garden sites to serve as hosts to our growers and hundreds of pounds of produce for the Atlanta community. We’re happy to welcome each school and garden site to Project Giving Gardens 2020. We look forward to growing with you! Keep an eye out for updates and photos as we watch these Giving Gardens’ progress this Summer. Your site may be featured next! Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School
