Telling Time With No Clocks

Students will to learn how to use a sun dial to tell time.

Students will sort items into two categories – living and non-living – based on their attributes, and articulate the attributes they used to sort.

Students will investigate the position of the sun in relation to a fixed object on earth at various times of the day.

Students will listen to a poem comparing plant parts and growth cycles.

Students will determine how the shadows change through the day by making a shadow stick or using a sundial.

Students will identify similarities and differences among plants as they use all their senses to describe characteristics.

Students will use their school garden to chart and create sun maps.

Students will learn to recognize earth materials.

Students will use their senses to observe and compare soils from their school yard.

Students will use senses to observe soils by physical attributes.
